Managing change

To reduce anxiety in your life, you may need to make some adjustments. Your environment, which includes your friends, colleagues, accommodation, location and lifestyle, impacts you more than you think. Something in your environment could be provoking your anxiety. 

Making life changes and optimising your environment can be difficult, of course. Here is an approach to delivering change that might help.

SET YOUR GOAL

Be clear about your overall goal. Break this big goal up into a number of tiny goals. Each one easy to do and achieve.

Anticipate what success will feel like. Make sure you're motivated to make it happen. It has to be worth it.

SET PROMPTS

Put in place cues and prompts to remind and encourage you at each step. Without them you might struggle.

CELEBRATE

Pat yourself on the back each time a goal is achieved. Tell yourself how well you have done. "I did great".
